New Orleans police officer booked with indecent behavior, sexual battery of juvenile charges

Share/Save/Bookmark

NEW ORLEANS — Authorities say a 26 year veteran of the New Orleans Police Department is on unpaid emergency suspension following his arrest on two counts of sexual battery on a juvenile and two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles.

Police says 58-year-old Willie A. Gant Sr. was arrested Tuesday.

Police did not elaborate on the allegations against Gant.

Gant's attorney, Patrick Giraud, told NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune (http://bit.ly/1qm3hou) his client "vehemently" denies the charges against him.

Giraud says investigators served a search warrant on Gant's home Tuesday evening.

He would not say what they were looking for, but said Gant shares the home with his wife and four young children.
