HOBOKEN, New Jersey — Authorities say a New York City man was driving drunk when he struck and killed a 22-year-old pedestrian in northern New Jersey.
Twenty-two-year-old Luis Garcia of the Bronx was charged with death by auto and leaving the scene of an accident. His bail was set at $25,000.
The Jersey Journal (http://bit.ly/ZX8SYw) reports that the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. Saturday in Hoboken. Garcia was driving on Patterson Plank Road when his car jumped the curb and hit 24-year-old Ron Hill II of Jersey City.
Authorities say Garcia tried to flee the scene, but he struck several cars a few blocks away and was captured by Hoboken police.
Hill was pronounced dead at the scene.
