Former Riverside County nurse pleads guilty to 1 charge resulting from molestation allegations

MURRIETA, California — A former nurse at a Riverside County hospital was sentenced to two years in state prison after pleading guilty to a charge resulting from patient molestation allegations.

UT San Diego reports (http://bit.ly/19QWrOQ ) Paul Robert Simon, a former employee of Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta, entered his plea Friday.

In a plea bargain with the district attorney, the 53-year-old Simon agreed to plead guilty to a charge of burglary for entering a hospital room with the intent to sexually molest an incapacitated patient.

In exchange, prosecutors dropped five felony charges, including three counts of sexual battery on a medically incapacitated person.

Because the charge he pleaded to is not sexual in nature, Simon will not have to register as a sex offender.
