OTTAWA, Ohio — Ohio's Republican U.S. senator wants to hear what's going on with flood control plans in northwest Ohio.

Rob Portman of the Cincinnati area will be Ottawa on Saturday to meet with officials in Putnam County about flood mitigation. Portman, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican Rep. Bob Latta have urged the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to accelerate projects related to the flooding.

Among the efforts are redesign work around the Road I-9 Bridge in Ottawa Township and an engineering report on the Blanchard River Flood Risk Management Project.

Portman's office said his meeting Saturday will be at the Putnam County Educational Service Center.
