GAINESVILLE, Florida — Hundreds of colorful camellia blooms greeted visitors to Gainesville's annual camellia show.

The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1BlM7Pw ) reported Sunday that more than 1,000 blooms were on display at the city's Kanapaha Botanical Gardens.

The vivid, winter-blooming flowers thrive in Florida's warm climate.

Prizes were awarded for plants grown indoors and plants grown outdoors. A Melrose couple took the grand prize for earning the most blue ribbons among the blooms they displayed.
