Diego Fagundez extends scoring streak to 3 matches, leads Revolution over Toronto FC 2-0

FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts — Diego Fagundez extended his scoring streak to three matches, netting his fourth goal of the season to lead the New England Revolution over Toronto FC 2-0 on Saturday night.

The 18-year old Fagundez, who hails from the Boston suburb of Leominster, put the Revolution in front in the 23rd minute, one-timing a right-footed shot off the right wing after taking a long cross from the left side by Chris Tierney.

In stoppage time, Juan Agudelo tipped in a cross along the left goal line off a pass from Saer Sene in the 93rd minute for New England (4-4-4), which is unbeaten in its last three matches at 2-0-1.

Toronto (1-7-4) lost its fifth straight and is winless in its last 10 matches (0-6-4).

New England goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth notched his second straight shutout, his fifth of the season and seventh overall for the Revolution. Shuttleworth had to make only two saves on non-testing shots, while also facing three corner kicks.

Toronto's best chances came when Shuttleworth thwarted a breakaway bid by Toronto's Jeremy Brockie in the 15th minute before a drive inside the penalty box by Ryan Richter was wide right in the 32nd.
