Man faces arson, domestic violence charges for setting wife's home ablaze


GOLDEN VALLEY, Arizona — A man has been arrested after allegedly setting fire to his estranged wife's Golden Valley home, a day after the woman had obtained a protective order against him.

The Kingman Daily Miner reports ( ) that 60-year-old Robert Anthony Damiano turned himself in to police early Sunday and allegedly confessed to starting the fire.

Mohave County sheriff's deputies responded to the home Saturday night. Damiano's wife reportedly saw her husband outside before noticing that her home was on fire.

The house had been severely damaged by the time firefighters arrived. Chief Tom O'Donohue says the fire could have been deadly.

Damiano faces arson charges along with domestic violence and aggravated harassment charges.

No injuries were reported.
