Washington Co. board OKs Ten Commandments display but will review legal implications first

ABINGDON, Virginia — The Washington County Board of Supervisors has voted to display the Ten Commandments at the county government building.

But the board plans to establish a committee to review the legal implications before the Ten Commandments are posted.

The Bristol Herald Courier (http://bit.ly/10ycQSN ) reports that the board approved the moves Tuesday night.

The Rev. Jerry Eggers of Greendale Chapel requested the display. Eggers told the board that Christianity is the heritage of the nation and residents of Washington County.

About 300 people attended the meeting to show support for the move.
