BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — A teacher caught on camera slapping a handicapped student remains behind bars on a $10,000 bond.
WAFB-TV (http://bit.ly/177Or0r ) reports 50-year-old Nerelyn Soreta, of Baton Rouge, surrendered to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office on Monday.
Video of the alleged incident at Jefferson Terrace Elementary was captured last month.
Soreta was booked on one charge of simple battery of the infirm.
If convicted, she faces up to six months in jail.
