PIERRE, South Dakota — A Pierre teacher has been honored as an outstanding educator.
Riggs High School English teacher Shana Davis received the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award at a ceremony Monday that involved Gov. Dennis Daugaard and state Education Secretary Melody Schopp.
Davis is the only South Dakota teacher and one of only 40 nationwide to receive the award this year. She'll get $25,000 that she says she likely will put toward her effort to get a master's degree.
