Pedestrian struck and killed crossing road in New Castle, Delaware

NEW CASTLE, Delaware — Delaware State Police say a pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a car while trying to cross a road in New Castle.

It happened about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on Basin Road, just south of Amstel Drive. Troopers say 50-year-old David Brixen of New Castle, who was not in a marked crosswalk, was trying to cross the southbound lanes.

Police say Brixen was hit by a car driven by 21-year-old Ronald Landry of Dover. Brixen was taken to a trauma center, were he died.

The crash is under investigation, but troopers say no charges are expected.
