3 dead, 2 hurt in head-on collision between a pickup and semitrailer in north-central Montana


FORT BENTON, Montana — Three people have died and two others have been injured in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a semitrailer in north-central Montana.

The Great Falls Tribune reports ( ) that the accident occurred about 8 a.m. Saturday on Highway 223 near Fort Benton in Chouteau County.

Montana Highway Patrol trooper Chris Baker says the truck driver said the GMC Sierra pickup crossed over into his northbound lane.

Baker says the occupants of the pickup truck appeared to be teen boys.

A fourth person in the pickup and the truck driver were taken to area hospitals. The truck driver had non-life threatening injuries.

The trooper says the crash occurred where the road makes a right turn.

Fort Benton is about 40 miles northeast of Great Falls.
