32-year-old man fatally shot during Syracuse card game; police say they have no suspects

SYRACUSE, New York — Authorities say a 32-year-old man has died after being shot during a card game inside an apartment house in Syracuse.

Police say a single masked attacker went to the downstairs apartment on Park Avenue and opened fire as several people were playing cards at about 8 p.m. Tuesday. They say Darnell Patterson was fatally wounded and died at Upstate University Hospital.

Police say they've talked to some witnesses but detectives believe others who were in the building ran away and they're being urged to contact authorities. Police don't have a suspect and only a limited description of the gunman.
