Pilot reports being injured after single-engine plane crashes south of Rabbit Ears Pass

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colorado — A pilot called emergency dispatchers Sunday and said he was injured after his single-engine plane crashed south of the summit of Rabbit Ears Pass.

Routt County officials say the pilot asked for a rescue team. The man said he was conscious and breathing and reported back pain.

According to Steamboat Today (http://tinyurl.com/p8xqv2a ), an emergency transponder has been activated and the pilot was trying to direct emergency vehicles to the crash site.

Grand County Search and Rescue teams and members of Routt County Search and Rescue are responding.
