LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say a deputy accidentally shot himself in the calf during a pursuit in Wilmington.

Officials said the accidental discharge occurred early Wednesday, but did not offer specific details. The deputy's wound is not life-threatening.

City News Service says the deputy was involved in the chase of a Honda Civic that ended when the car's occupants bailed out and ran. A female passenger was arrested but the male driver got away.

Investigators are looking into whether the Honda was stolen.
