Geeky Gorgeous scores easy win in the $75,000 Regret Stakes at Monmouth Park


OCEANPORT, New Jersey — Geeky Gorgeous set the early pace and then drew off to win the $75,000 Regret Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday, beating Salamera by 4 1/2 lengths.

Trained by Danny Lopez and ridden by Angel Serpa, the 5-year-old mare ran six furlongs over a fast track in 1:09 3-5 and returned $3 and $2.10. The win was the ninth in 18 career starts for Geeky Gorgeous, who has earned $343,440 overall.

Salamera paid $2.10, while Ms. Cruisen' was a length back in third. With the field reduced by scratches to only four horses, there was no show betting.
