PUEBLO, Colorado — Authorities have released the name of a man who was shot and killed by law enforcement officers in Pueblo.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports (http://bit.ly/1yd2b3J ) 26-year-old Jon Jaquez was shot multiple times in the torso area Tuesday night and died at the scene.

Officers who were investigating an assault that happened Monday spotted Jaquez, a person of interest in that case, at about 6:30 p.m. Investigators say officers shot the man, who was in a stolen car, after he accelerated and hit two officers and backed the vehicle into a police cruiser.

It was unclear Wednesday whether Pueblo police officers or Pueblo County sheriff's deputies fired the fatal shots.
