Struggle for gun at Sioux Falls party ends with man shot; injury is not life-threatening

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — A struggle for a handgun at a party inside a Sioux Falls apartment ended in a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Police say the man suffered a head wound that is not life-threatening. Officers did not immediately make any arrests.

Authorities responded to the area Sunday evening, blocking off streets and evacuating an apartment building for a time. They say the investigation determined that the man who was shot was partying with several others when he pulled out a handgun. A struggle for the weapon ensued and the gun was fired.
