NEWARK, New Jersey — Essex County authorities have identified the woman killed in a hit-and-run accident in Newark earlier this week,
Betty Scriven was hit Tuesday night on Bloomfield Avenue. The 57-year-old city resident was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
No other injuries were reported in the accident, which remains under investigation.
The driver of the vehicle that hit Scriven remains at large. Authorities were also searching for the car, which they say may have been a silver four-door Dodge Neon.
