DC police investigate killing of 3-year-old boy who was likely beaten to death


WASHINGTON — The death of a toddler this week in southeast Washington has been ruled a homicide.

Police were called to the boy's home Tuesday morning after 3-year-old Xavier Lyles was found unresponsive. After an autopsy, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Xavier's death a homicide.

Police investigators say he was beaten to death. The medical examiner confirmed Xavier died of blunt force injuries.

No arrests have been made in the case. An investigation continues.
