Anchorage police investigate downtown traffic death; woman struck by van moving on green light


ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A woman died Tuesday morning when she was struck by a van on a busy downtown Anchorage street.

Witnesses tell police the van was traveling through a green light at west Fifth Avenue and A Street and struck the woman.

The driver stopped and cooperated with police. The driver by early afternoon had not been cited.

Police took a call on the crash at 9:45 a.m.

Police halted traffic to investigate the accident.

The woman's name was not immediately released because next of kin had not been notified.
