CHARLESTON, West Virginia — The executive director of the West Virginia Democratic Party is leaving at the start of 2014.
Jacob Winowich announced his departure on Friday. He said he plans to "explore other opportunities."
The party's chairman, Larry Puccio, said Winowich's successor will be named in the near future. He commended Winowich's "hard work and dedication."
While Winowich has been with the West Virginia Democratic Party for more than three years, he was named to his current post in March.
Winowich had been the state party's voter file manager. He began working for the state party as a field organizer.
Before joining the West Virginia party, Winowich worked for the Democratic Party of New Mexico as opposition research director.
