LORIS, South Carolina — Police are looking for whoever shot and wounded a man who was driving his car in rural Horry County.
Authorities tell local media outlets that a 28-year-old man reported he was driving down South Carolina Route 9 near Loris about 10 p.m. on Monday night after picking up a hitchhiker at a store.
According to a police report, that's when another vehicle then drove up behind the car and someone started shooting.
The driver, whose identity was not released, crashed his car after being shot and sought help at a nearby house. He was then transported to the hospital by helicopter.
Police said Tuesday morning they did not know the condition of the driver.
