Alabama couple arrested on arson charges related to fire that destroyed Mississippi home


VANCLEAVE, Mississippi — Sheriff's deputies have arrested an Alabama couple on arson charges related to fire that destroyed a home in Vancleave, Mississippi.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell tells The Sun Heard ( ) 46-year-old Gregory Steven Alford, of Grand Bay, Alabama, and his 45-year-old wife, Laurie Ann Terry, have been charged with first-degree arson.

The fire occurred Aug. 10. No one was home when it started.

Ezell says Terry owned the home.

The Jackson County Fire Department assisted in the investigation.

Sheriff's Capt. Chris Stratton said the accelerant used to start the fire will not be identified because that information is a part of the investigation.

Terry has been released on bond.

Alford remained in custody Wednesday on a $7,000 bond.

Online jail records did not list an attorney for the couple.
