Baltimore fire department: 2 dead after fire, 1 hit by projectile

BALTIMORE — Authorities say two people are dead after a fire at a home in south Baltimore.

Fire department officials say firefighters called to a home in the 800 block of Pontiac Avenue early Wednesday found heavy fire and received reports of people trapped inside. When firefighters entered the home, officials say they found a man and woman dead inside. Officials have not identified them.

Officials say a woman was hit by a projectile when the fire began and was taken to a hospital.

Crews controlled the blaze by 2 a.m. Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
