Waterbury elementary school principal put on leave after being charged with disorderly conduct

WATERBURY, Connecticut — The principal at Waterbury's Bunker Hill Elementary School has been placed on paid leave following his arrest on disorderly conduct charges.

The Waterbury Republican-American reports (http://bit.ly/ZdZizK ) 55-year-old Brian Goggin was taken into custody early Monday morning after police say he tried to enter a downtown bar after closing time.

Goggin, who earns more than $112,000 in his job, declined to comment Wednesday when reached by telephone at his home.

The arrest was Goggin's second in three years. He was on paid leave for more than three months in 2010 after being charged with drunken driving. He was reinstated after agreeing to enter a treatment program.

Paul Guidone, the school district's chief operating officer says school officials are conducting an independent investigation of the latest incident.
