Jordan Washington scores 17 points to lead MVSU past Arkansas-Pine Bluff 67-63 in SWAC opener

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas — Jordan Washington scored 17 points, had five rebounds and four assists to help Mississippi Valley State beat Arkansas Pine Bluff 67-63 on Saturday in a SWAC opener for both teams.

Latrell Love had 13 points for MVSU (2-12) and DeAngelo Priar added 12. The Delta Devils made 22 of 49 shots (44.9 percent) and hit 19 of 23 free throws.

Love gave MVSU a 65-63 lead with a layup at the 1:03 mark, UAPB's Thaddeus Handley missed a 3-pointer and MVSU's Jordan Washington hit two free throws to seal the win.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-12) was led by Jovaughn Love with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Marcel Mosley added 14 points, and Ghiavonni Robinson and Thaddeus Handley had 10 apiece.

UAPB led by as many as 12 points in the first half, but MVSU came back to take a 34-31 lead at halftime.
