South Dakota man sentenced to 1 year in federal prison, 1 year supervised release for assault

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — A Mission man has been sentenced to one year in federal prison for assault.

The incident happened in July 2013. Authorities say 24-year-old Waylon Black Lance Jr. struck the victim on the head and face with his fists.

Black Lance pleaded guilty in May to assault by striking, beating and wounding.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Moreno also ordered Black Lance to serve one year of supervised release.
