CLARKSBURG, West Virginia — A federal inmate has been sentenced to life without parole in the slaying of another prisoner.

The Exponent Telegram (http://bit.ly/1DC4Gkh) reports 34-year-old Patrick Franklin Andrews entered the plea Monday in federal court in Clarksburg to charges of murder by a federal prisoner serving a life sentence and second-degree murder in a federal facility.

In exchange for his plea, federal prosecutors agreed to drop their pursuit of the death penalty against Andrews.

According to the plea agreement, Andrews and co-defendant Kevin Bellinger stabbed inmate Jesse Harris at the U.S. Penitentiary at Hazelton in October 2007. Prosecutors say Harris was stabbed 22 times with homemade knives.

Bellinger was sentenced to life without parole last October for his murder conviction.
