DES MOINES, Iowa — Forecasters say severe storms are possible across most of Iowa and eastern Nebraska on Sunday.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch Sunday for 27 Iowa counties and 20 eastern Nebraska counties.

The tornado watch continues through 9 p.m., but the threat of severe weather will spread east across Iowa throughout the day and evening.

The Weather Service says the greatest tornado threat Sunday is in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Large hail, high winds and a few tornadoes are likely Sunday afternoon and evening.
