ORIENT, Ohio — Authorities are trying to figure out what caused massive explosion that leveled a rural central Ohio home.
Homeowner Michael Terry tells the Circleville Herald (http://bit.ly/1iAt3n6 ) that he was working in the barn when his house exploded Thursday afternoon in Orient in Pickaway County, southeast of Columbus.
The fire marshal's office is investigating, but foul play is not suspected. Terry speculated that it could have been a propane leak.
The explosion was so powerful that the house was reduced to a pile of sticks and rubble. Neighbors said it could be heard for miles. Several fire departments fought the ensuing blaze.
The 64-year-old Terry was treated with oxygen afterward but it expected to be OK.
