ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — Albuquerque police found a body in what appears to be a shallow grave in the southwest part of the city.

Police say the body, which was partially buried under a concrete slab, was recovered Friday near Bluewater and Airport Drive.

Police spokesman Simon Drobik says someone reported the body Thursday after seeing a hand sticking out of some dirt and a sock.

The Office of the Medical Investigator is working to determine the identity of the person as well as the cause of death.

Drobik says police are treating the death as suspicious.
