HARRISONBURG, Virginia — A Rockingham County company has agreed to pay a $13,500 fine for waste violations.

The fine is part of a Virginia Department of Environmental Quality consent order with Airdye Solutions.

Department inspectors found six violations of the state Waste Management Act during a March 4 inspection of the company's operations.

Karen Hensley with the DEQ tells The Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/1Mhw3lG ) that the company immediately removed all hazardous waste and shipped it to a disposal facility after it was informed about the violations.

Hensley says the company also removed old sludge tanks.

The violations included storage of wastewater sludge in tanks that weren't designed to meet hazardous waste storage tank requirements.
