HOUSTON — A Houston-area man has been sentenced to four years in prison for his role in a nearly $10 million health care billing scam.
A federal judge in Houston on Monday sentenced Emeka Daniel Orji of Richmond and ordered him to repay $1.5 million to Medicare. Orji in July pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit and committing health care fraud.
Prosecutors say Orji opened the durable medical equipment company Spectrum Foundation Inc. in a scheme associated with Aghaegbuna "Ike" Odelugo of Sugar Land. Odelugo ran his operation from a now-closed cellphone store.
Odelugo in January 2012 was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to repay $9.9 million. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud, committing health care fraud and money laundering.
