CRESTVIEW, Florida — An elderly Alabama couple is dead following a crash earlier this week in the Florida Panhandle.

Officials say 85-year-old Charles Barrett died Tuesday at a Pensacola hospital. His wife, 82-year-old Pamela Barrett, died at the scene of Monday's crash.

The Northwest Florida Daily News (http://goo.gl/zOAl3Q ) reports that Charlie Barrett had been driving on a Crestview road when he hit another car and then turned into oncoming traffic where he collided head-on with an SUV.

The Town Creek, Alabama, couple had been in Florida visiting their daughter. They were heading home Monday morning when the crash occurred.
