CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs have placed outfielder and right-handed reliever on the 15-day disabled list.

The Cubs recalled infielder and lefty from Triple-A Iowa in time for Monday's makeup game against the Cleveland Indians.

Soler, batting .265 with seven homers and 42 RBIs, has a left oblique strain and could miss up to a month. Motte, 8-1 with a 3.91 ERA and six saves, has a right shoulder strain and won't throw for seven to 10 days.

Both Soler and Motte appeared in Chicago's 9-3 win over Atlanta on Sunday.

Soler played right field and was replaced in the eighth inning, but manager said he wasn't sure how or when Soler suffered the injury.

Motte, who leads all major league relievers in wins, threw 11 pitches in a perfect eighth. Before Monday's game, he said the shoulder felt "funky" after the outing and he had an MRI.

Motte had Tommy John surgery in 2013 after tying for the National League lead in saves — 42 with St. Louis — in 2012. Maddon said Motte's injury is "nothing horrid."
