Deputies: Work-release inmate walks away from job, may be in Livingston Parish


BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputies are looking for a work-release inmate, serving time for a Livingston Parish drug charge, that left his job post and did not return.

The Advocate reports ( ) 30-year-old Kevin Whetstone was working off-shore on a tugboat and left after the boat docked Tuesday evening.

Whetstone called a relative for a ride and told the relative he was allowed to leave.

It is believed that he may possibly be in the Livingston Parish area.

Whetstone is serving time for possession of cocaine.

Anyone with information is asked to call East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office at 225-389-5000.
