YARMOUTH, Massachusetts — Officials say the death of a New York man in an indoor swimming pool at a Cape Cod hotel does not appear suspicious.

Yarmouth fire Capt. David Morley says emergency personnel were called to the Riverview Resort in Yarmouth just before noon on Sunday.

He says 68-year-old William Butler of Springfield Gardens, New York, was pulled unresponsive from the bottom of the pool. Police performed CPR but were unable to revive him. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe tells the Cape Cod Times that Butler had multiple medical issues.

The death remains under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious.
