Funeral home identifies Townsend teens who died in weekend crash

HELENA, Montana — A funeral home has identified the three Townsend teens who died in a weekend crash near Fort Benton.

Stevenson Wilke Funeral home said the victims were Terrick Lucas Johnson and Keanu Daniel Amsk, both 16, and 17-year-old Branson Wayne Phelps.

Montana Highway Patrol trooper Chris Baker says the driver of a semi-trailer said a pickup truck crossed into his lane on a curve in Highway 223 on Saturday morning.

A fourth person in the pickup, a 19-year-old man, was critically injured. The Chouteau County sheriff's office tells the Great Falls Tribune he remained hospitalized on Monday morning.

The truck driver was treated for his injuries at the hospital in Fort Benton.
