SYRACUSE, New York — Police say they've charged a 32-year-old man with gunning down another man during one of three fatal shootings that occurred in Syracuse over the same weekend last summer.

Officials say 28-year-old Juan Fuentes-Diaz was killed by gunfire early on the morning of Aug. 3.

Police say investigators were able to identify a suspect, Cesar Sanchez, who has been in Onondaga County Justice Center on unrelated drug charges since Jan. 21. Sanchez has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted kidnapping.

He's being held in jail pending arraignment on those charges. Police didn't know if he has a lawyer.

Fuentes-Diaz was one of three men killed in separate shootings the weekend of Aug. 1-3. A fourth man and a 15-year-old boy were wounded.
