CHICAGO — The San Diego Padres have recalled right-handed pitcher Brad Boxberger from Triple-A Tucson before their game Thursday against the Chicago Cubs.
San Diego also optioned LHP Robbie Erlin to Triple-A.
Boxberger appeared in 24 games last year for San Diego, going 0-0 with a 2.60 earned-run average. In 10 games with Tucson this season, Boxberger was 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA.
Erlin is 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA in two games for the Padres. He made his major-league debut Tuesday night.
