GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania — A western Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 3½ to seven years in prison in what authorities called an attempted robbery that led to a shooting death.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (http://bit.ly/1owwVqj ) reports that 44-year-old Jesus Santiago of Derry Township pleaded guilty to robbery and conspiracy Monday in Westmoreland County Court.

Prosecutors alleged that he and three other people went to the mobile home he shared in December 2012 to steal money and drugs belonging to a man who was staying there. One of the alleged accomplices, 24-year-old Matthew Volk, was killed.

A judge in December dismissed murder and homicide charges against Santiago and two other defendants.

Twenty-two-year-old Ronell Moses Jr. of Penn Hills is awaiting trial on a criminal homicide charge. He has said he shot Volk in self-defense.
