CASPER, Wyoming — The trial of a Casper woman accused of shaking a baby, suffocating her and burning her face with a saucepan has been delayed to accommodate a new defense attorney.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1yItq8n ) 25-year-old Stephanie Shirts' original Feb. 2 trial date has been rescheduled for Feb. 23. She is charged with four counts of child abuse, four counts of child endangerment with methamphetamine and one count of aggravated child abuse.

Shirts is accused of burning the 14-month-old girl, causing a brain injury and suffocating her with a blanket before resuscitating her.

An emergency room doctor contacted police Sept. 16 after the infant's mother, Bobbi Humphreys, brought the baby to the hospital. Humphreys and a man who lived in the house, 37-year-old Jason Cathcart, are charged with child endangerment.
