Man arrested after allegedly hitting woman, child on Tucson road

TUCSON, Arizona — Tucson police have arrested a man accused of fleeing a hit-and-run that left a woman dead and her child hurt.

Police spokeswoman Kimberly Bay said Sunday that 22-year-old Joshua Ochoa has been arrested on several charges including second-degree murder and marijuana possession.

According to Bay, the collision happened around 11:40 p.m. Saturday on Sough Nogales Highway near East Elvira Road.

Investigators say 38-year-old Marisa Robles and her 11-year-old child were hit while walking in the shoulder.

Robles was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Bay says responding officers found a damaged vehicle and a nearby trailer with the door open.

Ochoa was located in the trailer and arrested without incident.

It was not clear if he had an attorney.
