Sheriff: Woman killed, infant hospitalized after mobile home fire in Pittsburg County


LONGTOWN, Oklahoma — Authorities in eastern Oklahoma say a woman has been killed and an infant has been injured in a mobile home fire.

Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns tells the McAlester News-Capital ( ) the Longtown woman died Monday and the child was flown to a Tulsa hospital.

Their identities haven't been released. The child's age and condition are unknown.

It's unclear how they were related.

Authorities say four people were inside the home when the fire started and a neighbor helped some escape.

Authorities are working to determine what started the fire.
