BOULDER, Colorado — A 56-year-old man suspected of hitting and injuring a Lafayette police officer while driving drunk is being held on $20,000 bail and is expected to be formally charged Wednesday.
The Daily Camera reports (http://goo.gl/wzov1d ) John Prokop was arrested Saturday on suspicion of several charges, including first-degree assault, DUI, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer, among other counts.
Police were responding to a complaint from officials at Flatirons Community Church on Saturday about a man who appeared to be intoxicated inside the church. When police reached him in the parking lot, the driver hit an officer and drove away.
The officer was treated at a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Booking documents do not indicate if Prokop has hired an attorney.
