LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department says the outside lanes of a section of Interstate 630 in Little Rock will be closed for pavement research during the weekend.

AHTD crews will be taking core samples from the interstate as the department prepares for the future widening of the interstate between Baptist Medical Health Center and University Avenue.

The work will require occasional lane closures of the outside lanes for both eastbound and westbound traffic on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day — weather permitting.

Traffic will be controlled with barrels and warning signs.
