NEW CASTLE, Delaware — Police in New Castle County say they're investigating after a shooting that injured two people.

Police say the shooting happened around 10 p.m. in the unit block of South Street. Police say a 34-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were in a parked car when a suspect fired multiple shots at the vehicle, striking both the man and the woman.

Both the man and the woman fled in the car. Police say the woman excited the car and was taken in a private vehicle to a hospital. Shortly after, the man was involved in a car crash with a police department patrol vehicle and subsequently taken to the hospital.

Police did not release information about the severity of the victims' injuries or what may have led to the shooting.
