MIAMI BEACH, Florida — The art world is gearing up for Art Basel Miami Beach, which brings emerging artists, art-lovers and famous works of art together in early December.
The fair includes paintings, sculptures, photographs and film. It is expected to draw 50,000 visitors to the Miami Beach Convention Center, which is the main site for the event.
Satellite fairs and other events will also take place nearby. Many museums in South Florida will host special shows. An exhibit about the Spanish small plates known as tapas (tah-pahss) takes place in The Moore Building in Miami's Design District. And Google Glass is teaming up with an artist, inviting visitors to view artwork through the high-tech eyeglass device.
Art Basel Miami Beach takes place Dec. 5-8. It's a sister event to Art Basel in Switzerland.
