OXFORD, Mississippi — Mississippi coach Hugh Freeze has received a one-year contract extension and raise that will push his salary to $5 million per year by 2018.

The four-year contract, which started Jan. 1 and is the longest allowed by state law, is worth an average of $4,925,000 per year. Freeze will make a base salary of $4.7 million in 2016 and receive a $150,000 raise each year through 2019.

Freeze made $4.3 million in 2015.

Freeze led Ole Miss to a 10-3 record this season, including a 48-20 victory over Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl. He has a 34-18 record over four seasons.

The school, which announced Freeze's new contract Wednesday, also said the salary pool for the program's nine on-field assistant coaches will rise from $3,110,000 to $4,260,000.
